Religion
There are Commonwealth laws that protect workers against discrimination at work because of their religion.
It is against the law if, because of your religion, you are:
- refused a job
- dismissed from work
- denied training opportunities
- denied promotion
- subjected to less favourable working conditions or terms of employment
Complaints about being discriminated against because of your religion can be made to:
- Fair Work Ombudsman (except for people who work for state governments)
- Australian Human Rights Commission
Religious employment, e.g. in a church, is not covered by discrimination laws.
